Alligators 427

New cover song!

Greetings Chamanic Listeners!

I am very happy to announce the release of a new cover song “Alligators 427” from singer HF Thiéfaine!

The track is available on Bandcamp, and as it comes with a music video, also on Youtube.

I discovered French artist, singer and poet Hubert-Félix Thiéfaine when I was a student. I remember buying a compilation album of his because I wanted to have a glimpse of his already prolific career at the time.
The mood of his songs ranges from kind of silly to deep darkness, but always with a specific and particular way of using words to create strange atmospheres and metaphors.

The last track of the compilation album was a live performance called "Alligators 427". I was just blown away...
The song is strongly anti-nuclear and gives a horrible view of a world using/dependent on nuclear technologies, both civilian and military. This way of seeing (even if from my point of view the nuclear debate is not only black and white) left a very strong impression on me.

Legend has it that the author wrote this song after a protest against a nuclear power plant

I had been thinking about this cover for a while now. I was just waiting for the right inspiration.

The cover song is accompanied by a music video. I found it to be a great opportunity to use video archives to explore and balance 2 such different ways of seeing, experiencing and interpreting the world and its reality: an amazon tribe and occidental technologies (nuclear tech not to name it).
As always, this was a lot of fun to create and play, especially since it's Electric Chaman's first song with lyrics ;-)

I hope you enjoy it!

Take care

Lyrics translation

Alligators 427
With wings of saffron cashmere,
I smoke my last cigarette.
I'm waiting for you.
On this hysterical highway
Which leads us to the mutants,
I traded my heart for a stick.
I'm waiting for you.
I know you have destructive beauty
And a winning smile until your last breath.
I know your jaws distill agony.
I say to you: "bravo" and "long live death!"

Alligators 427
With a tail of zinc and blood,
I take a little sniff.
I'm waiting for you.
In this strange carnival
We sold homo sapiens
To buy back Neanderthal.
I'm waiting for you.
And the factories may recycle themselves,
There will never be enough morphine for everyone,
Especially since, according to what they say, you like to make it last.
I say to you: "bravo" and "long live death!"

Alligators 427
With long phosphorescent glances,
I blow my nose, pull up my socks.
I'm waiting for you.
And I block my tomorrows.
I know that the flies are getting ready,
Around the tables of the feast.
I'm waiting for you.
And I wait for your next mass graves to be erected.
I missed the other war for photography.
I hope your corpses will be well hung.
I say to you: "bravo" and "long live death!"

Alligators 427
With venomous and slimy fangs,
I give my skeleton a brush.
I'm waiting for you.
The village idiot queues up
And holds out his membership card
To take a place in the big fire.
I'm waiting for you.
I hear the wind whistling above the calvaries
And I see the vampires coming out of their coffins
To come and greet the nuclear angels.
I say to you: "bravo" and "long live death!"

Alligators 427
With claws of gold and diamond,
I know that the hemlock is ready.
I'm waiting for you.
I know that in your alchemy,
The atom is worth travelers checks
And that's enough as an alibi.
I'm waiting for you.
In the shadow of your power plants, I spit out my cancer.
I'm looking for a new name for my metamorphosis.
I know that my children will be called earthworms.
I say to you: "bravo" and "long live death!"

Alligators 427
With brains of jasper and silver,
It's time to ring the party.
I'm waiting for you.
You have a taste for great art
And on my electric meter,
I have the portrait of the prince-nerd.
I am waiting for you.
I know that, from now on, living is a pun.
Death has become a permanent state.
The world is for ghosts, hyenas and vultures.
I say to you: "bravo" and "long live death!"

I am waiting for you.
I am waiting for you.
I am waiting for you.
I am waiting for you.
